January 29th - June 10th
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The main focus of this 20-week hands-on class will be on designing progressive dies. Students will also learn about other types of dies including blanking dies, single hit form dies, compound dies and transfer dies. Each student will design numerous strip layouts and at least one progressive die throughout the course of training. They will also animate their progressive die as if it was running in the press. Interference detection and dynamic interference detection (collision as the strip is lifting and advancing through the die and as the die is cycling open and closed) will be taught and practiced on their die. Students will be introduced to making 2D drawings for the 3D die that they design, including a bill of materials (BOM) and options for detailing the 2D drawings. They will also learn the proper way to make engineering changes.
