SCHAUMBURG - In the May 2017 TMA News Bulletin, TMA's Government Relations Committee reported 32 Cook County municipalities had chosen to use their home rule authority and reject two new employee-related ordinances the Cook County Board will put into effect July 1, 2017.
Since May's report, the number of cities and towns “opting out” has nearly doubled. As of this printing, the number stands at 63 of Cook County's 134 municipalities.
“TMA is working with members to affect local council members' votes and encourage them to reject Cook County's efforts to make it even harder to keep manufacturers around,” GRC Director Dennis LaComb said. “We have until June 30th to make a difference.”
