Illinois ranked 9 out of 20 among top manufacturing job creators in 2017

There's no doubt the historically-huge manufacturing job creating Illinois could have done better, but in 2017, the Land of Lincoln came in 9th among the top job creators in 2017.
The nation's top state was way ahead of the others. Texas manufacturing grew by 36,000 jobs last year while Illinois grew by 7,700 jobs.
The National Association of Manufacturers reports unemployment at 4.1 percent, the lowest since 2000.
